about

Bass bins were driven. Genres were riven. Purists were pissed off but no f**ks were given. It was the hysterical, historical moment of swaggrotech: a supposed sub-genre of industrial music that existed largely in the imaginations of its outspoken lyrical protagonists, yet one which would become equally championed and reviled by those who took the joke seriously.

First coined as a neologism by Jay Ruin of Wolverhampton-based RUINIZER, and rapidly picked up by East Coast bass-music producer John Stancil of SERAPHIM SYSTEM, the albums that could be said to best exemplify swaggrotech at its 2015 peak would be RUINIZER’s “Decimation In H.D” and SERAPHIM SYSTEM’s “Automaton Assisted Annihilation” – although the albums by both artists immediately preceding these, plus the digital-only EPs which followed, also have their place in the canon.

Both artists would subsequently abandon this style in favour of what might be called “blackened industrial” or “industrial black metal” – but for a time swaggrotech lived, and how it partied hard. And now, for the first time, you can enjoy swaggrotech in its entirety across massive collections that compile absolutely everything from this time by both artists – both originals and remixes – from this time period…even including in both cases a brand new previously unreleased track!
